Awww...you shouldn't have!
Thanks Texas for the easy path to our seventh straight conference title! I suppose KState should get some credit, but let's not kid ourselves. KState just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Texas was due for a meltdown. It has become the legacy of Rick Barnes. Even our little blog here saw it coming (although not with this accelerated schedule).
Looking back in history, we can see why this should not come as a surprise. Going back to the last 10 years, Texas has at least one two game losing streak every year. In half of those 10 years there was a period with 3 loses in 4 games. And lest we not forget about last years 5 loses in 7 games debacle that saw them going from a #1 ranking to completely falling off the radar.
Here is the raw data:
2010/11 - 3 of 4
2009/10 - 3 of 4 | 5 of 7
2008/09 - 3 of 4 | 4 of 6
2007/08 - 2 of 3
2006/07 - 2 of 3 twice
2005/06 - 2 of 3
2004/05 - 3 of 4
2003/04 - 2 of 3
2002/03 - 2 of 3
2001/02 - 3 of 4
By comparison, you'd have to go back to 2005 to find the last time Kansas even had back to back losses.
